Whenever Hollywood needs a city with lots to do, mid-western charm and is just a nice place, they seem to choose Cincinnati. So what makes Cincinnati, Ohio such a great place?
Cincinnati, Ohio Sports
Let’s start with sports. This is the home of the Cincinnati Reds. The city revolves around opening day. Start with a parade, end with a baseball game – what can be more American than that! If football is more your game, enjoy a day with the Bengals. Maybe that will be the day the Bengals Curse ends.
Cincinnati hosts a number of 5Ks for serious and not so serious runners. Costumes are optional but always welcome.
You can even downhill ski at Perfect North or explore the amazing city parks. These parks cover 10% of the city and are rated ‘excellent’ by the Trust for Public Land. Play, hike, explore, picnic or play with your dog at enclosed dog parks. It will take a long time to discover all of outdoor Cincinnati.
Cincinnati, Ohio Music
You’ll find it all in Cincinnati. From Riverbend Music Center, the place that helped revive outdoor music, to jazz spots and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, you’ll find your favorite type of music. Come rock with the greats in all the genres!
Cincinnati, Ohio Food
Home to two of the most amazing regional foods and ranked restaurants, you can eat your way through the city. Start with Cincinnati chili, a Mediterranean spiced offering served over everything. End with French pot ice cream, perhaps the finest ice cream in the world, made in the old tradition, two gallons at a time. USA Today has named Cincy as one of “six small cities with big food scenes.”
But it is not all food. With a large population of Germans emigrants, you’ll find excellent beers and many craft beers. Celebrate Oktoberfest ZinZinnati and enjoy beer and sausages.
Cincinnati, Ohio Shopping
You’ll find it all in Cincy. Whether you prefer locally owned boutique shops or big box retailers, you can shop for everything your heart desires. If you like history and fun finds, check out Ohio’s oldest continuously operated public market, Findley Market.
