Erlanger, Kentucky is located in Kenton County and is part of the Greater Cincinnati area. Erlanger started life as a log house back in 1807. Sixty-two years later, the Southern Railroad made plans to extend through Erlanger. It took about ten years to complete the railroad. Some residents were certain that the railroad would bring prosperity. Others worried that southerners would ship their produce north. The outcome was, of course, mixed.
Today, the railroad depot is a hub of activity for the town. However, it’s not train traffic, but events such as Depot Days!, a regularly scheduled series of family fun events at the depot. Summer events include Soil and Mud at Railroad Park and Astronomy at Railroad Park. You’ll even find Shakespeare in the Park. Erlanger celebrates Heritage Day on the third Sunday of September. This fun event includes craft booths and food vendors, live music, wagon tours, and more.
