Cincinnati Sports – Major League
The NFL Cincinnati Bengals call the area home and have since 1968. Their first game of the NFL pre-season is August 11 at Paul Brown Stadium. Maybe this year the Bengal Curse will end!
If the boys of summer are more to your taste, the Cincinnati Reds have been part of the Cincy scene since 1882. There are only a few games left in the season, but you can catch them at the Great American Ballpark.
Like soccer? The FC Cincinnati is a United Soccer League club started in 2016. Their last game is August 15, against the New York Red Bulls, in a US Open Cup Semifinal match. You won’t get to watch the game in person unless you’ve already got tickets, because it is sold out.
The Florence Freedom is a professional baseball team in the Frontier League. They play in nearby Florence at the UC Health Stadium. They have a number of games left in their season, with games through Labor Day. Celebrate a great American pastime during the final days of summer.

With four major universities within the Greater Cincy area, you can get your fill of the NCAA sports. Northern Kentucky, University of Cincinnati, Xavier University and Miami University all offer great opportunities to cheer on up and coming athletes. Four smaller colleges, Union University, Mount St Joseph, Cincinnati Christian, and Thomas More College provide even more opportunities for sports from football to swimming to golf.

You’ll find professional tennis at the Western and Southern Open in Mason. The 2017 competition is August 12 to 20. There are several special events in addition to some terrific tennis by world class athletes.

Cincinnati Sports — Recreation
If you are one of those hardy distance runners, you can participate in the annual Flying Pig Marathon. The next marathon is May 6, 2017. You should have plenty of time to train! Or, if like me you’ll run when pigs fly, you can stroll the Kings Mile or take your four legged companion on a two mile walk – there is an event for everyone.
