Just fifteen minutes north of Cincinnati on I-71, you’ll find Norwood, Ohio. This nice little town is conveniently located for commuting or as a suburban home.
Norwood, Ohio History
Norwood, Ohio is younger than a lot of Ohio towns. Settled in 1888, Norwood was strategically located along major stage routes. Now, it has easy access to I-71. Norwood’s original inhabitants, the Adena Indians, left behind Norwood Mound. This prehistoric mound was probably used for religious ceremonies or smoke signaling. It is one of the highest points in Hamilton County.
Indian mounds were once common, but Norwood Mound is the only remaining mound in the Cincy area. Many of the artifacts found around the mound comprise the original artifacts in Cincinnati Art Museum’s Native American Art Collection.
