Sharonville offers two nature preserves. One is Twin Creek Nature Preserve. This 30-acre park was once an industrial park. With more than $2.1 million worth of state and federal grant funding, this park was returned to a 5-acre wetland. The restored stream channel helps flood control for sensitive areas downstream. Now, it is home to native plants and provides habitat to many animals. You might meet some of them as you walk the 0.5-mile loop.
The other is Sharon Woods. This is a 730-acre park in Sharonville. It offers 4.3 miles of trails, playgrounds, and a visitor center. You can attend educational programs, picnic, and boat on the lake. If you’d like to travel back to old Ohio, visit the Heritage Museum and experience living history. You won’t get bored at Sharon Woods.
If you’d like to travel back even farther in time, check out Trammel Fossil Park. You can dig and keep Ordovician fossils. These 445-million-year-old fossils include brachiopods, branching bryozoans, crinoids, and trilobites. It’s a neat way to spend an afternoon.
