Springboro, Ohio History
Settlers first came to the area in 1796. It was officially founded in 1815. For much of its early history, many of the residents were Quakers. With many nearby springs and water sources, the town was a perfect place for industry. The town boasted mills and a woolen factory. It was also a stop on the Underground Railroad.
Because of its location between two major Ohio cities, Springboro began booming in the 1960s. Springboro is one of the most important suburbs in the Cincy-Dayton metro area. In 2011, it ranked 42nd Best Place to Live in the US (Money Magazine). In 2014, it captured the title of 10th Best Suburb in American (Business Insider).
Springboro, Ohio Lifestyle
Springboro is home to many parks, each with a distinct flavor and amenities. No matter where you are, you can find a green scape to relax and enjoy Ohio’s natural beauty. If you are into bicycling, Springboro is developing a bicycle network. Eventually, there will be sixty miles of trail system. These will connect with the longer 330-mile Miami Valley biking trail. Springboro is also installing SPARC and Go hubs along the trail. These provide shelter, restrooms, charging stations, and bike repair equipment.

While it is now part of Dayton Nut Specialties, they still make chocolate using Friesinger’s time honored methods. If chocolate is not your favorite, you can find nuts (plain and candy coated), coconut slices and toffees. It’s worth the trip!
