Northern Kentucky consists of seven of the northernmost counties, where it juts into Ohio to form the Cincinnati Metropolitan Area. These counties are Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Gallatin, Grant, Pendleton and Bracken. The counties contain at least one large city with many smaller towns around them. The latter four counties are mainly rural in nature.
Prospective home buyers won’t find these facts on a Northern Kentucky MLS, but combined with Cincinnati, Ohio, the population of the area is over two million persons. Also not to be found on an MLS of Northern KY is that the climate is half Southern and half Northern.
Prospective home buyers will find familiar Southern plants such as crape myrtle and magnolia trees alongside Northern staples like blue spruce. What other adventures await those interested in Northern Kentucky?
Education in Northern Kentucky
Each county will offer a number of elementary, middle and high schools for the education of its residents. Higher education, however, will require some travel to reach:
- College of Mt. St. Joseph in Cincinnati
- Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights
- Xavier University in Cincinnati
- University of Cincinnati-Blue Ash College
- Lincoln College of Technology in Florence KY
- Beckfield College in Florence
Employment in Northern Kentucky
The hospitality industry, construction, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and services such as financial, computer, insurance and such have a decided presence in Northern Kentucky, not to mention across the river in Cincinnati. Management, office work, sales, transportation, installation, and production all have their place in Northern Kentucky’s employment sector.
Northern Kentucky Attractions
No Northern Kentucky MLS will list things to do or attractions to see in a given neighborhood, but we will. Those who appreciate the color green, hiking and biking through it and picnicking in green spaces will enjoy several parks in the area. Some parks offer picnic areas, playgrounds, and ball facilities of all types. Some offer hiking and biking trails, while others are all about the water. Lakes and rivers are perfect for swimming, boating, fishing and other water sports like skiing.
Some people just need excitement, so they head to the nearest amusement park. Beech Bend State Park with its raceway, Lazer Kraze Laser Tag amusement park, and Kentucky Kingdom amusement park should keep everyone busy and amused for quite some time.
Other folks need another kind of green to be amused and engaged. We are talking clubs and balls, of course, on a green golf course. MLS Northern KY will not mention a word about golf courses. Boone Links Golf Course in Florence, Northern Kentucky Golf Club in Butler and World of Golf in Florence all stand prepared to give prospective new residents a great day on the links.
