West Chester, Ohio ranks 56/100 in Money Magazine’s 2017 Best Places to Live. The rankings take into account factors such as economic health, public education, crime, cost of living, and amenities. Not bad for 35 square miles in the heartland of America!
There are nearly 61,000 residents with 37% between 35 and 54, so there is a strong workforce. And with a high school graduation rate of 91.9%, you’ll find an educated workforce as well.
Neat Places in West Chester
West Chester is in the Cincinnati Arch, a geological area rich in fossils and petroleum. If you like to collect fossils, you’ll find ones from the Late Ordovician through the Devonian.
There are a number of parks in the township as well. The American propaganda broadcast, Voice of America, relayed from West Chester until 1994. It’s now the 625 acre Voice of America MetroPark with a stocked lake for fishing & boating, a dog park, and a paved walking trail. Learn more about the Voice of America at the nearby museum.
The Square at Union Centre is the center of West Chester. There is Class A office space, restaurants, and the West Chester Library. Check out the concert schedules farmer’s markets and other special events.
Beckett Park is a 150-acre green space. You’ll find paved and natural walking trails, an accessible and a natural playground, fishing ponds and picnic shelters. There is also a seasonal ice rink, the West Chester Baseball Complex, and Mulhauser Barn.
Keehner Park is 123-acres of wooded trails, playgrounds, tennis courts, picnic shelters, the Cabin in the Clearing, and an amphitheatre. The West Chester Concert Series takes place on summer Saturdays at the amphitheatre.

West Chester is served by the Lakota Local Schools. Schools range from pre-K to 12th grade and serve about 17,000 students. According to the township website, the schools rank among Ohio’s top school districts for academic excellence.
