The hills of Cincinnati offer stunning vistas, trees, and visual interest. Nowhere is this quite as true as it is for the historic neighborhood of East Walnut Hills.
The original town, Woodburn, was founded in 1867. Many city leaders built mansions on large setbacks and stunning river views. This neighborhood was home to Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of the seminal American classic Uncle Tom’s Cabin.
Many of the older homes are terrific examples of the American Romantic period. Others echo elegant European architecture. Many of the large mansions are now apartments or condos. Homes frequently figure in local historic home tours. The area offers an ethnically diverse population that makes this area very vibrant.
East Walnut Hills is east of Cincinnati along the Ohio River as it curves north. Highways 50 and 52 form the southern border of the neighborhood. Madison Road to the north leads directly to I-71.
There are many parks in the area including Eden Park and Annwood Park.
